Sachit Ajmani

Sachit Ajmani

Sachit Ajmani is a composer and pianist with an interdisciplinary practice. His work balances precision and spontaneity and embraces the continuum between the precise and the improvised. His musical journey began on the piano and the tabla. In 2022, he graduated from the conservatory in Maastricht with a focus on classical music, majoring in composition and piano.

His work increasingly resides in the broad genre of music theater, primarily driven by music and text. The music is often partially improvised and/or open score, creating space for both musical and theatrical timing to coexist. The music is often electroacoustic, although Sachit always works with human players and pulse. Thematically, Sachit explores values that emerge in the zeitgeist and interrogates them to better understand the social condition. Years of writing about climate change naturally drew his attention to global capitalism and ultimately greed. In recent years, the loneliness epidemic and social polarization, partly caused by global crises, have influenced his writing.

Sachit also works as a producer.  
Originally from India, he currently resides in Maastricht, Netherlands.
