Sebas van der Donk

Sebas van der Donk (1992) graduated in 2016 from the Academy for Theater in Tilburg and has since been working as a teacher, actor, and theater maker. Since his graduation, he has performed in educational productions for, among others, Toneelgroep Maastricht, Het Laagland, and has performed for NTGent, among others. Since 2021, Sebas has been working on his development as a creator of youth performances.

From 2021 to 2024, Sebas formed a duo with Marcos Valster da Costa Ferreira (1991). They met during their studies at the Academy for Theater in Tilburg.
The performances that Sebas and Marcos created are socially engaged. They arise because they are personally troubled by something and have questions. They then engage in conversations with each other and others based on these questions. For the performance Pussy, which questions what masculinity still means today, for example, they spoke with various young people about masculinity. From these conversations, they learned new things and more questions arose. With these questions, they take the stage.

They do not want to convince the audience to be for or against something. Instead, they try to illuminate the middle ground because they believe that is where they often stand themselves. By being open and personal, they encourage their audience to do the same. They want to bring black and white to the same table. Not because they think this will suddenly change their positions. But they can learn to understand each other.

In 2023, Sebas founded his own company; Stichting Nyxland
